The gallery contains photos I've taken of various birds, other than raptors. I am not a "birder", but I do enjoy watching and photographing birds. There's so much variety in size, shape, color, and behavior.

Psychedelic Duck

This is a female or juvenile Merganser. The highlight of the composition is the dramatic water surface. Strong backlighting turns the ripples and gentle swells into liquid mercury, creating mesmerizing, metallic geometric patterns and concentric distortion loops around the bird.
