This gallery contains pictures I've taken of bears in the wild. Most are from locations in Alaska, including Katmai National Preserve.

This gallery contains photos I've taken of various raptors. I'm fortunate to live in an area with many types of hawks and a few bald eagles. I am lucky enough for some of the hawks to land near enough for me to get some great shots. Some shots were taken on trips to Alaska and other locations. A few were taken at our local Hawk Watch presentations. I will always note shots that were not taken in the wild. They're all gorgeous though either way.

Alaska is beautiful. Alaska is wild. Alaska is one of my favorite places in the world. This gallery contains photos that show the beauty and wildness of Alaska. There are a handful of photos included from the Canadian Yukon, just over the border. It's close enough that I think it's okay to include them here.

In addition to cool wildlife and incredible landscapes, I also have an appreciation for beautiful flowers. We've planted numerous flowering trees and shrubs on our property and we like to visit gardens when we travel. For instance, we've been to Butchart Gardens on Victoria Island, British Columbia a number of times. It is one of the most gorgeous places we've ever been and many of the photos you'll see in this gallery were taken there.

This gallery is devoted to glaciers. Most or all are that you will see are in Alaska. I've been to Alaska numerous times and many of those times on a cruise ship. I've cruised Glacier Bay and some of the fjords multiple times so I have had lots of opportunities to photograph these beautiful rivers of ice. I've also been fortunate enough to take a helicopter (a couple times), land on a glacier and hike around with crampons on. Those were mind-blowing experiences and give a perspective of a glacier that you can't get any other way. Enjoy the photos.

The gallery contains photos I've taken of various birds, other than raptors. I am not a "birder", but I do enjoy watching and photographing birds. There's so much variety in size, shape, color, and behavior.

This gallery contains a variety of wildlife. I gave bears, raptors, and birds their own galleries because they are more special to me and I have a larger number of photos of them. This gallery catches everybody else.

The Sierra Nevada mountains in California, specifically the Eastern Sierras, are one of my most favorite and special places in the world. There are few places with as much natural beauty and outdoor activities. My parents took me skiiing at least once a year when I was a kid and I continued going as an adult. In the past 15 to 20 years, I've tried to get up there at least every few years in the summer or fall (especially) to hike and take in the gorgeous scenery and incredible fall colors (see my Fall Colors gallery to see examples). There's a reason that the John Muir and Ansel Adams Wilderness Areas are located in the Easter Sierras. I hope you enjoy the photos and the majestic beauty of the area.

This gallery contains shots of fall foliage from the West Coast to the East Coast and up into Canada. I love being out in nature when the trees are changing and putting on their incredible show of color. There is some overlap in this gallery as you will see many shots from the Sierras in here that you won't see in the Sierras gallery.

I love sunsets. Especially on the water. There is so much color and variation with sunsets. It usually helps to have some clouds hanging around, but they're not always necessary. Some of my favorite sunsets are shown in this gallery.

The desert is another special place for me. I love the variety of flora and fauna. I've always enjoyed driving a 4x4 of one sort or another on the trails and washes to find new and interesting things to see and photograph. It's really nice living somewhere where I can be in the desert (Anza Borrego) in about an hour and a half. That makes it really convenient to head out for a drive or a hike. You will see desert landscapes along with some of the flora and fauna in this gallery.

There is a lot of overlap between some of these galleries. There are many flower photos in the Desert gallery for instance. There are many landscapes in the Alaska and Sierras galleries. This Landscapes gallery is for landscape photos that don't fall into those more targeted galleries. Hopefully, that makes sense and I hope you enjoy the photos in this gallery.
